I Went to Indiana Univ of PA for Criminology.
Also US Army ROTC Program.
Was/am member Assoc of the US Army, member of 10th PA Co while at IUP, now connected to Carlisle Barracks, PA. Cannon Crew Commander for 2 Yrs. Currently am Life member of AUSA. Was member of Ranger program, attain rank of SGT.
Participated in Non-Commissioned Officers Development Program (NCO-DP), then 1 yr later assist the C/CSM with the renamed & redeveloped NCO Academy (NCOA). Ran & organized use & need of supplies, logistics & intelligence for NCOA, as well as most others things the C/CSM.
Was/am Member of Rho Tau Chi Professional Fraternity, was SGT At Arms for a Term.
Was/am a Pershing Rifle. Assist Re-Found Org at IUP during time there. With changes in program, disappointed to see Co retired 5 yrs later. Org took most my time & still holds part of my heart. Being there in beginning make up part of Co, promote up through CPL-SGT-SSG-SFC-2LT-1LT-Etc. Eventually made CO, CPT, of Co. One point, made Regimental Cmd, COL. In end retired with co, W-1-5, as Brigadier Gen, BG. Still have Co guidon & colors, someday hope can fly again.
Participated several competitions with Co & opportunity to grade competitions. Also tasked assist local JROTC units training cadets for drill competition. Handle logistics & intell for Color Guard Opts for IUP Basketball Games, IUP Football Games, IUP Grads, other Indiana events & other out of Indiana Events. Competition award winning CG presented at Pirates Game in Pgh’s old Three Rivers Stadium.
Participated several OP-FOR OPTS for cadets & Guard/Reserve Units, and Community Relation events, such as Honor Guard for PA Gov Ridge, School Programs, Etc.
Made friendships still have today & memories I will have forever. Experiences made me better person, made me person I am today. Without them & these people, would not be person I am today. All experiences, no matter if they are good or bad in the moment, makes us who we are in the end.
In ROTC, had opportunity to work with some of the best people would ever meet. LTC Steele, LTC Edwards, MAJ Ferderber, CPT Herrmann (M/F), SGM Hill, SGM DeJarnett, SGT Johnson, SGT Brown, SGT Matsey, to name a few.
Met many great people going through ROTC. Mohr, Barber, McGarry, Thompson, Kauffman, Spano, Angove, Klingensmith, Kiernan, Rausher, Holt, Renwick, Stachera, Snow, Buck, Fallon, Freeman, Haubert, Lamborn, Moncuse, Azinger, Kovalcik, Ziegenfuss, Bopp, Julock, Picciano, Postage, among many others.
Jen Kuhl, a 'Cool' person, has always been there & Great Friend. Tracey Mertel, is great, so much about her I would not know where to begin because I Love so much about her. Laura Mohr, long time trusted friend & continue to be. Will King, greatest friend.
After IUP, like any other Until 02 Jul 03, was injured on the job. Sustained Head, Brain, Neck & Knee Injuries. Nevertheless, learned from life & one thing after another, never give up.
